SOLAR DISTILLED WATER FRESNEL LENS WATER FILTRATION SYSTEM CLEAN DRINKING WATER Solar Distiller.
Apr 2nd, 2009 by Mr.Burton
These Water filtration systems offer an alternative to water damage cause by several causes. This solar distiller can creat water deliver of .5 GPH http://www.greenpowerscience.com/

All you have to do …
All you have to do is bring the water to a boil and it is then safe to drink. You don’t need to do all that fancy stuff.
haha, it didn’t …
haha, it didn’t smash on his hand…
it broke because it got too hot.
definitely…good …
definitely…good pyrex or whatever
and put a dark-colored rock in the bottle to collect heat, like in a sauna.
there are a lot of …
there are a lot of improvements that can be made with this system
Its funny untill …
Its funny untill someone gets HILARIOUS LIKE WHEN THE GLASS SMASHED ON UR HAND LOLOLOLOOLROFLMAO
Distilled water is …
Distilled water is drinkable as long you have some food in your system to cover the minerals the water does not then have. However if you want drinkable water you could just filter it trough a fabric and boil it. Using ultraviolet light is also a good sterilization method, though regular glass does not allow ultraviolet light go trough, so the method shown here would not work very well. It will work if you know both the lens and the water container are such material that they allow UV to pass.
Distilled water is …
Distilled water is indeed drinkable, but yeah, there are warnings on bottles of it not to drink it in large quantities. It’s crazy good at dissolving anything polar.
distilled water is …
distilled water is not drinkable.apparently it dissolves bones and whatnot ?
I hear you man. It …
I hear you man. It probably already exists. If the Army manage to do a set up where they can direct a huge beam, it would be so deadly and silenced at the same time.
I just want to create a Solar Beam Sniper Riffle….lol.
Thanks! I’ll give …
Thanks! I’ll give it a try.
A naive idea. For …
A naive idea. For example, many plants create poisonous secondary metabolies that are secreted into the environment–either as waste or, in come cases, with the purpose of protecting the plant. Also, there are plenty of man-made, volatile, chemical toxins that can end up in water. Any water that has passed through a sewge system, for example, contains anything that ANYONE may have put down a drain.
SIMPLE distillation alone does NOT produce pure water.
this water probably …
this water probably isnt that bad considering many microbes and bacteria get killed in the process, so the only toxicity would come from the dead cells
I have a non-profit …
I have a non-profit foundation supporting 8 families, including 18 children. Have you experimented on larger quantities of water (say a gallon at a time)? This is system works in our case because it does not require expensive cooking oil or wood burning stoves which is what the families use right now to heat water before consumption. I recently had one of the families children become sick with Typhoid because she drank from an unclean water source. The families live in Bandipur, Nepal.
I would like to see …
I would like to see you use some sea water in your gadget… I know you could… just would like to see it…
But the problem …
But the problem with simple distillation like this is that you get EVERYTHING that evaporates–including oily plant/algae-type products.
a reasonble solution is to give the distilled product a final pass through a carbon filter.
In any case, this would be a very BAD idea using any water that contained what you KNEW to be poisonous molecules that evaporate. Do this with water from your car radiator (with antifreeze) and you’re a dead man.
What do you really …
What do you really expect when you heat sodium glass? If you absolutely want to use glass, at least use borosilicate glass.
You need to let it …
You need to let it open boil for a about 10 minutes. Also try making your copper tubing longer.
I tried this with …
I tried this with some truly nasty stagnant water and the new water was clear but retained the smell… any ideas why this would be
p.s. i didn’t drink it.
i got welders …
i got welders goggles at home depot for about 10 bucks… You can still see well but it doesn’t hurt your eyes
not only does the …
not only does the bottle filter out UV but the fresnel lens doesn as well, so between the two i doupt that it would kill all living meterial in the water. but that is besides the point, boiling gets rid of all that anyway…..
Egregius didn’t …
Egregius didn’t dole out an absolute, glass only filters out some UV, depending on the type and thickness of glass. Stand under an Arc followspot for about an hour without the UV filter but with the 3 thick lenses, you’ll get sunburned. A mason jar isn’t going to block nearly 100%
yes
yes
its only dangerous …
its only dangerous to drink distilled water on a poor diet and as said , if you live in a climate with lots of sun ( Africa?) and the water could be contaminated , this is a life saver. what a fabulous method using free energy. its awesome
as Egregius said, …
as Egregius said, UV radiation (for the most part) doesnt pass through glass. the first step was unnecessary because the water was going to be boiled later. in fact, if all you were worried about was organic meterial just boiling the water is sufficent. you only need to distill it if you are trying to get contaminents out (salt water). cool video but not very scientific.
“Bottled water has …
“Bottled water has contaminants too”
I’d like to note that the air we breathe has contaminants as well. So? Growing up in sterile environments means our body thinks it doesn’t need it’s natural defenses muchly, leading to weakened resistance.
Speaking of which, there’s a risk of demineralisation if you drink only distilled water for prolonged periods of time, so take care with that (google for why distilled water becomes acidic).
when water is converted to vapor all impurites are gone thats how rain works, i guess it would be dangerous to use anti freeze or something like that but this method would work for rain water and stuff like that fine as for the minerals being lost that is no big deal ecspecially since flouride is possibly dangerous.
