Well done tutorial! …
Well done tutorial! Thank you. We just finished installing a thinfilm solar panel on the roof of our bus. We wrote a DIY tutorial, but are thinking about making a video on it.
I think that a lot of people are intimidated by all the talk and don’t realize how easy it can be to install your own system as long as you are careful.
I suppose I could …
I suppose I could hook up a small tv.
I am not a big tv watching person.
can u conect the tv …
can u conect the tv?? how long??
Very Cool! I just …
Very Cool! I just bought the same system, and I look forward to giving it to the utility company, or should I say “NOT” giving it! LOL. Great job with your set up.
how does it …
how does it charge if there is no sun
Well said. People …
Well said. People need to stop worrying about money and start worrying about the future.
There’s no reason why we couldn’t all be running off solar power right now. The technology is there. It doesn’t take huge solar panel arrays either, just set a medium sized panel on every house, and connect it to the grid. Convert power plants to hydrogen fuel cell “energy storage plants” to provide energy during dark hours.
Do you run your car all the way dry? Then why wait until the planet runs dry?
It works all year …
It works all year round.
It charges better in summer but, I have no troubles with it. Rick.
You know p3ngwin,
…
You know p3ngwin,
You are very wise & respectable.
Economics is not as important as environment.

I don’t know man,
You lost me… I just like having hobbies and making power & skateboarding.
They are so …
They are so expensive because they are hard to make. They take lots of time and ENERGY (from your coal power plant) to make. It is actually a net LOSS in energy after the panels are made (up until about 10 yrs). Meanwhile, while you are saving your off to pay for the panels, you are wasting time using coal power at work and home.
Its simple - if they were cheaper and easier to make, they would actually be a net+ in price as well as environment.
does it only work …
does it only work on summer
the reason is not …
the reason is not to save “money” but the planet we live on moron.
there are more important forms of energy to save.
“conveniences” like energy companies providing all you need “cost” too much.
where do you think the energy company gets it’s “energy” from?
people like this guy are more concerned with investing in our planet’s future. he doesn’t care that it costs money because money is less important to him, he believes in a better place for us.

Cat batteries don’t …
Cat batteries don’t last long in deep cycle use. Get a trolling battery or a marine battery. They’ll last a couple of years. A fork lift battery would last a good deal longer.
Buy some …
Buy some ultrabright LEDs. I’ve gotten them cheap on E-bay. You have have lights all through your house on this same system. I believe the new version of this system comes with 12v LEDs instead of the CF bulbs. 1 watt about 1/2 the light of the CF but imagine running 10 bulbs instead of 2 for that week!
50 watts is all? Ok …
50 watts is all? Ok so assuming 5 hours a day of pure sunlight, thats 250 watts. Assuming all 365 days of the year are giving you perfect direct sun, thats 91250 watts. So, 91 killowatts is how much you make in a year, AT BEST. Most power companies are charging around 16 cents a killowatt. So, good job there, you made $14.56 in a year. The panels cost you 200, plus all the other stuff you bought. For 14.56 a year, you should have your stuff paid off in no less than 14 years. Good luck with that.
50 watts not bad …
50 watts not bad for 200 bucks hey u saved money u know u gotta spend money to save money, right?
0_0 lmfao! all that …
0_0 lmfao! all that work for 50watts! ahahaha owned.
HOW do you do you …
HOW do you do you hook up a car battery for power any links to help ??
Bill,
It only …
Bill,
It only charges in the “on” setting.
Mine beeps when I turn it on or off.
I think it starts charging at 23 volts.
best wishes Rick.
I have this …
I have this controller but no instructions.Does it only charge in the off setting? It also beeps sometimes when switching on and off.How much voltage has to be going in to start chargeing?Been looking on line for info, sorry for all the questions.THANKS Bill
That is a great …
That is a great idea!
I am trying to upgrade the system.
Thanks for your comment. Rick.
Hi there, connect …
Hi there, connect the charger to a 72v Fork lift battery instead of a standard 12v car battery and the use the appropriate inverter and your be able to run more than just light’s, boil a kettle and run a washing machine no worries
Thanks for the …
Thanks for the video, I read some of the comments, but hey it is safer to experiment before istalling to the grid. I moved to an area of town hiding from the “El Dorado” TX homeonwers association. Here I can dry my clothes outside in a clothe line and put just about anything. I will post my first project, here I live close to the lake and corn fields, it is very dark during the night. Solar and wind is the best for now.
