Next Generation of Cheap Solar Cells

Sep 6th, 2008 by Mr.Burton

New technology uses cheaper materials instead of expensive silicon crystals. These new solar cells are projected to cost 1/10th of what the more expensive silicon cells cost.

It would be nice if …
It would be nice if they had made a comparison between the efficiency of the wafer cell and the film material.

price per wat is 1 dollar found it on another video made by israel dudes. if mass produced it would cost at 50 cents per wat.

    It sounds like …
It sounds like these new cells are more efficient per square meter. Maby or maby not. But is the price per watt any cheaper? It should be if its just “painted on”. The only thing is that more space will be needed if they are not as efficient.

    Awesome. Why cant …
Awesome. Why cant they buy other factories, or outsource production. Come make them in ENGLAND. Please. Ill give buy you a pint.

    Less radiation …
Less radiation waste idea:A Atomic Plant’s atomic clock can be powered and energized, using a solar clock but doesn’t use sun power but only laser light which is absorbed in clock’s solar panel cells or photo voltaic cells which absorb laser light and sends to core battery.Reason atomic plant clock needs to use this technique is:Electrical wires if cut are dangerous/around atomic things,if old not fire safe;Long Fiber optic wires can send light energy and if cut,no problem just laser exposed!

    Their website says …
Their website says that they have already sold all their 2008 production. It will be a long time before they will have enough excess production to start selling to dealers for retail resale of their product.

    don’t forget …
don’t forget concave mirrors alone can burn paper so maybe we can increase the sun power on the solar panels….sun—heat steam…steam car

Just give me the film and the conductive ink then I’ll print my own, now how cool is that?

    they sell to …
they sell to companies (sunfarms) apparently, then they can ship more at the same time.

the first rounds of panels will likely also have some unforseen flaws which will be easier to correct at a sunfarm than by grandpa joe in west ohio that don’t know to much about how the panels work etc.

that nanosolar can sell to a company is a good sign shows the business can go around, the reason why normal solarcells went straight to private people was because companies could not use it, expensive

    yeah, i have heard …
yeah, i have heard though, that most of the cost is in building the factory and the materials, the factory is rather automated so it don’t require a lot of workforce, so building a factory in china and from there transporting the cells to the good paying markets like germany is prop not the cost worth, i have read somewhere they considered that but it just did’nt ad up :-)

    they should go big …
they should go big by producing these in a cheap country their next factory should b more like china, germany alone is way mor expenive than say across the border in turkey, cheers to them id just really luv to put this all over my house then we could really think about electric cars, i saw some guy trick out a ninja to ev that cost 1 cent /mile

    nanosolar has …
nanosolar has started production of solar cells in alto california, when the factory eventually are running at 100% it will produce 200.000.000 solar cells pro year.

they are also building a BIG solar factory in germany.

    so where do they …
so where do they sell them?? these companies are too slow to bring the products mainstream, u would think theyd be more eager given he market, going as far as leasing, this is a great idea i hope they dont pull out

    Solar is the …
Solar is the perfect energy, and it is incredibly plentiful, and everlasting. America is too oil-addicted to realize this. The oil barons have a grip on the world – and we all shall suffer from their greed and our stupidity. The solution to ALL of our energy problems is SOLAR… Go to Wikipedia – research “solar ponds” to see what we COULD be doing rather than paying thieves $4.00 a gallon to pollute our environment. Solar energy and electric everything. Welcome to the future – it’s now.

what about recycling the solar panels when broken? easy or only possible at high costs and energy?

Anyone have any helpful history of a good ETF stock that invests in Nano solar only?
    Cheers
